Think About It

I have encountered a thread from BlogCatalog which somewhat intrigue me. The thread was made by Arnold/Reachout, here it is:

"what ifs" and "if only"

How many times have you heard these words spoken by a friend or family member or uttered them from your own lips? The "what ifs" and "if only" can plague a person's psyche, focusing them on the rearview of regret rather than the possibilities of tomorrow.

Now, think about it. Its very simple but very real. Thanks Arnold.

Consequence

March 03, 2009, i was cleared of my INC in the CS Research Methods. This is the subject that precedes my Elective 2 subject and may be the reason why i cannot march this April. Here's the scenario:

I was cleared 04-03-09..
After that, i continued the development of my system..
After a week, i checked on my reference for the information regarding disaster related reports which i receive from RCY. The thing is I have overlooked some information that lead my system to a design which i called "fictional"..
After that event, i revised my design and also worked on the system..
Them when think i was ready to let my instructor see the system, i hesitated. Basically because i still don't have an adviser. So i looked for one..
I approached Sir Dan and luckily he said yes, but the thing again is that i only have a week left..
I gave him my documentation and hoping that it will immediately be returned to me with comments and etc, but then, my adviser is somewhat very busy..
Until the end of the weekdays came, still my papers were not returned to me..
Then, the next Monday to that is TODAY! Today is my instructor's schedule for submitting our grade to the registrar, and as he said as a reply on my mail, "the deadline of submission of grades was last march 13, 2009 and i defied that order to give chance to all ... but tomorrow, i will submit my grades .. those who submitted their subject requirements will receive their corresponding grades, others will receive INC" (RSG 2009)..

Wow..I can really say that my hopes are now slowly leveling down. Weeks of sleepless nights can end up with nothing, oh my. Again, the thing is i can finish my research/elective 2 this semester but then i will not be able to march. What's the sense of my effort? hahay.. But then again, i have no one to blame, no one but me.. Me again..

March, Will I March?

Hahay.. I'm running out of time for my requirements. My hopes are still high but the other circumstances come in the way. I have two major obstacles left to dwell with. First is the continuation of my research which is the elective 2. Basically, I my INC research was just complied this month and i just have found an ADVISER for my study. My system which entitled EVACUATION CENTER INFORMATION REPOSITORY, was not yet check by my OVERALL ADVISER, Sir RANDY S. GAMBOA. The bigger thing about it is that March 23, 2009 will be the date Sir Gamboa will submit grades for all of his subject loads for this semester. If i cannot make it on that day, oh my.. i really don't know. I hope Sir will still let me continue even i was not yet check and just to let me MARCH this MARCH..huhuhu..

Again, my hopes are still high about marching. But there is still another thing. Sir ROBERTO CANDA will still want me to take the pre-final of final examination for my other INC..huhuhu.. I hope the LORD will touch his kind heart and let me proceed..huhuhuhuh...

But the again, my hopes are still very high.. POSITIVE MAXXXX!
Even with those obstacles, my boat is still moving forward. And i believe i can still make it with the help of some MERCY from the hands of my obstacle master..hehehe..

I know i can still do it..And i will not stop!..POSITIVE MAXX!! I hope I can MARCH!..I Will anyway, somewhere!..

Family Trials

The end of 2008 and the start of 2009 are among the very hard times to our family. In this spawn of time, we experienced a very tragic and life threatening situations. Our trials have come very rapidly that it overlaps with each other.

To start with, in my birthplace at Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat, my relatives are caught in an armed conflict between the rebels and the arm forces of the Philippines. We are so worried about their situation for they always inform us via SMS that the gunfires are drawing nearer. Due to the increasing economic crisis not only in the Philippines, the companies which my father worked have also experience this hard time. He was forced to leave his position and in the 19th of December my father was unemployed. Aside from that, last December 26, 2008, my cousin was rushed into the hospital and eventually died because of seizure. The whole Murillo and Lee clan was shocked with the news that they’ve heard. Who would have thought that a good 26 year old, family loving, and very funny man would just passed away in just an instant. After the death of my cousin, there was an emergency from Kalamansig which is about my grandfather which is the father of my mother. He was said to be rushed to the hospital because he’s vomit is accompanied with blood. The only thing we can do is to provide financial support for his hospitalization. While my grandfather was in the provincial hospital at the Kalamansig, the armed conflict ignites again. At the second night of his stay at the hospital, the electricity source of the town was bombed by the rebels and the whole town including the hospital was covered in darkness. Because of that, my relatives decided to prematurely discharge my grandfather from the hospital for the reason that the medical staffs and doctors have evacuated for they have felt that the shootings are near the area. Luckily, my grandfather survived the situation and have recovered, and eventually returned to his drinking habit. And after the burial of my cousin, just a week after that, here comes a very big trial for my own family. And the main reason is me. I was admitted to the hospital due to severe abdominal pain, vomiting and LBM. After a day of observation and series of test, my doctor told me that I have amoeba in my system that is why I have LBM. The other thing is that the severe pain was caused by appendicitis which was diagnosed by my surgeon which was also referred by my other doctor. My appendix was said to be ruptured so the surgery cost higher than the usual and the time of hospitalization is longer because of amoeba treatment. Aside from that, we do not have enough money to pay for all the bills, so we borrowed money from my fathers company and other relatives. The other thing is that the medical assistance which is the Philhealth of my father was not fully paid by the company he is employed. So my father rushed to go back home from Zamboanga to Davao city to fix the problem we are facing, mainly financially.

I was away from my regular routine for 8 days due to my condition, and I don’t know when will I recover fully but still I am grateful. I am very grateful for all the help, sympathy and every possible thing that come to us, to our family. Even though we are now having so many debts because of me, I am still thankful. Thankful because God still made our family safe and united despite the problems we have. Even in the midst of our trials, we just stayed faithful that our Lord up high will help us in any possible way.

Thanks everyone.

Sweat: Men's Ticket for Attracting Women

"Why use colognes when you have your built-in love potion"

There are many research studies that were published that helped us clarify many wonderful and amazing things. Among the head turning research that i came about was with regards men's sweat and its shocking capabilities.

According to the research study at the University of California, Berkeley that is published on Journal of Neuroscience, there is a compound that is found in male sweat and other bodily secretions that can change mood, physiological arousal, brain activation and sexual arousal in women. The said compound is called androstadienone. It is a derivative of testosterone Which plays a very big role in making our life more spicy and interesting, and it is said that it can also be found in saliva and semen. Cortisol, which helps restore homeostasis after stress was also increased when women smelled men's sweats. There are also results like improved mood, higher sexual arousal, increased blood pressure, heartbeat rate and breathing when sweats are smelled.

This study really emphasizes some of the similarities of humans with animals, with regards to secretions, smells and opposite attractions. We can also imagine the power of our Creator on how He plan our whole body. Where in every possible detail is useful and relevant. Even the sweats which we consider waste of our body has its own hidden purpose just to make more out of our lives.

Biblical Health Instructions

I was about to dispose some old magazines. There is this one magazine cover that really catches by attention, and the magazine is the “The Good News”. It’s was published 6 years ago (2002), but I am very struck with its contents. It is all about having a vibrant health as what their front page says but it is in the accordance to the Bible. Here is one of the articles about the seven principles the Bible says about health and wellness:

One: Obey God’s commandments
“My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you…It will he health to your flesh, and strength to your bones” (Proverbs 3:1-2, 8)

Two: Basic sanitation
“Designate a place outside the camp where you can go to relieve yourself. As part of your equipment have something to dig with, and when you relieve yourself, dig a hole and cover up your excrement” (Deuteronomy 23:12-13)

Three: Sexual purity
“For the lips of an immortal woman drip honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two edge sword…And you mourn at last, when your flesh and your body are consumed” (Proverbs 5:2-5, 11)
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all sexually immortal” (Hebrews 13:14)

Four: Circumcision
“From generation to generation, every male child must be circumcised at the eight after his birth. This applies not only to members of your family but also to the servants born in your household and the foreign-born servants whom you have purchased” (Genesis 17:12)

Five: Control your stress level
“Cast your burdens to the Lord, and He shall sustain you,” (Psalms 55:22)

Six: Exercise
“bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things…” (1 Timothy 4:8) It profits a little for their daily routines before are like intense exercises of today.

Seven: Emotional management
“A merry heart does good, like medicine…” (Proverbs 17:22)

These biblical tips or instructions are long been given to us, some can be considered as the foundations of our modern medicines. But even though modern medical science have discovered and developed many principles and techniques to have a good health, everything starts from Him.

Reflection

I think, therefore I exist.

We came to the world equip with the ability to think. This ability is one of the most significant features a human being has. The ability to think enables us to deal with our daily lives accordingly, and it makes our lives productive. We’ve been dealing with this for so many years, but when Mr. Randy S. Gamboa introduce the phrase “I think, therefore I exist”, I come to asked myself. “Do I really exist or am I really thinking?” In times of confusion, I have thought of so many things in life that I have done. Yes, I am thinking, and I’m sure everybody is. And yes I exist, because I can feel the interaction of the world to me and me to the world. Knowing these things makes me sure that I do think, and therefore I exist.

But there are times that I feel I am useless. I know what to do, but still I have not done it. I know what the right thing is, but still I did not follow it. Yes, literally I think, and I exist. But sometimes, I do not think. Therefore, I also do not exist. Since everything we do start with our minds, we can say that every little thing we do starts when we think, when we use our minds. But that’s only the start, a something, for it to be done needs an action and not just thinking. In order to do something, we need to materialize the thinks we are thinking. Anticipating and balancing all the factors that affects to what we are doing.

Killers of the Future

Artificial Intelligence and Robotics are among the very promising technologies that are currently developing. Many governments and organizations around the globe supports these field of specialization for in the near future it can provide the people with much more effectiveness and output. But as of now, there are many studies regarding AI and robotics in the application of military purposes. The question then arises, what is the future of these studies?

An author once said, "Time will come that humans will build a machine that will have a responsibility to kill humans but without the intervention of humans themselves". By basing the authors assumption to the military researches on the AI and Robotics for war purposes, there is really a chance that what he/she said will surely manifest. Beside humans are the reasons for the destruction of the nature that's why there is a global warming now. What can we say, maybe we the humans will also be the main reason that we will be replaced by machine. Heheheheh

So, are you afraid of the future?

Online Evacuation Camp Tracker: Approved!

This proposed system will be involved in the post-disaster services of the Disaster Management. It will house the information regarding the different Evacuation Camps that will be established during disasters. Among the information that will be available on this proposed system are the disasters' detail, the evacuation camps' information and also some of the basic information about the affected individuals that is present under a camp.

The system is put online to enable other people to have an idea or to determine the status of the different disasters that are affecting the people in our country. By means of this proposed system, more and more people will be able to sympathize and more people can render help by knowing the current conditions of the camps that officiate in alleviating the effects of the disaster to the affected people.

IT in Different Areas

Best thing about IT is that it is now everywhere..
From medicine to business..It's everywhere..
For us, opportunities are...EVERYWHERE!..tama ba?

IT in Evacuation Center Management

Scenario:
Since then, our country has already experienced many disasters. Based on the location of our country, we can never deny the fact that it is prone to natural calamities namely earthquakes, typhoons and volcanic eruptions. We cannot also deny the fact that there is a conflict between some of the groups in our country that cause armed conflicts and also bombing. Because of these events the Disaster Management was formed. Under DM there are many things to consider, for say there is a big flood caused a typhoon that made the people homeless, there should be things to be done in order to help them. Among the essential area of DM is evacuating the affected victims or community from the site of disaster towards a safer place and it’s called an evacuation camp.

Proposal:
Based on that situation, I would like to propose a study with regards to the injection of IT in the field of Disaster Management, particularly in the area of Evacuation Center Management. This proposed study will cover from developing an appropriate Evacuation Center up to the resource/relief allocation for the victims under a said center.

Objective:
To develop a model for a standard evacuation center design with an automation in mind
To identify items in the Evacuation Center Management that serves as bottleneck and will be enhanced by IT
To determine the effectiveness of IT under the field of Disaster Management
To develop an enhanced system for Evacuation Center Management

End Project:
Evacuation Center Designer
- this system will be developed based on the derived design/model from the study
- a system for making a blueprint design of an evacuation center
- with predefined models/designs for specific disaster or location but configurable
- configuration is based of the basic data that is gathered from the field (Ex. no. of families, budget per family, land area and etc)
