Biblical Health Instructions

I was about to dispose some old magazines. There is this one magazine cover that really catches by attention, and the magazine is the “The Good News”. It’s was published 6 years ago (2002), but I am very struck with its contents. It is all about having a vibrant health as what their front page says but it is in the accordance to the Bible. Here is one of the articles about the seven principles the Bible says about health and wellness:

One: Obey God’s commandments
“My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you…It will he health to your flesh, and strength to your bones” (Proverbs 3:1-2, 8)

Two: Basic sanitation
“Designate a place outside the camp where you can go to relieve yourself. As part of your equipment have something to dig with, and when you relieve yourself, dig a hole and cover up your excrement” (Deuteronomy 23:12-13)

Three: Sexual purity
“For the lips of an immortal woman drip honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two edge sword…And you mourn at last, when your flesh and your body are consumed” (Proverbs 5:2-5, 11)
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all sexually immortal” (Hebrews 13:14)

Four: Circumcision
“From generation to generation, every male child must be circumcised at the eight after his birth. This applies not only to members of your family but also to the servants born in your household and the foreign-born servants whom you have purchased” (Genesis 17:12)

Five: Control your stress level
“Cast your burdens to the Lord, and He shall sustain you,” (Psalms 55:22)

Six: Exercise
“bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things…” (1 Timothy 4:8) It profits a little for their daily routines before are like intense exercises of today.

Seven: Emotional management
“A merry heart does good, like medicine…” (Proverbs 17:22)

These biblical tips or instructions are long been given to us, some can be considered as the foundations of our modern medicines. But even though modern medical science have discovered and developed many principles and techniques to have a good health, everything starts from Him.

I am Christian and I believe that what the Bible says is true, you know by faith we have been saved, through Christ. This article is interesting. You can't say the Bible doesn't talk about everything in life, come on, it even talks about bathrooms here! Praise God!
